COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM
SUBJECT:
title
Solid Waste Scenarios for Efficiency and Rate Stabilization
body
DEPARTMENT: Environmental Services
SUMMARY: On November 15, 2019, a workshop was held to provide Council with various options to identify changes to the solid waste operations in order to provide efficiency and ensure a sustainable utility. After Raftelis Consultants made a presentation on four scenarios, Council directed staff to bring three of those options (minus status quo) to the next Council meeting.
On December 2, 2019, the three scenarios were brought before Council for a decision on how staff should move forward to provide efficiency within the department. After two failed motions and City Attorney input, the item was tabled until the January 6, 2020, Council meeting so proper advertisement would be made including all four scenarios given at the workshop. Below are all four scenarios as presented with the potential savings or increase that could occur with each scenario.
