Request from (ECI) East Coast Independence Baseball Club for a discounted rate to use the Baseball Fields at Hawks Park Baseball Complex

SUMMARY:
The East Coast Independence Baseball Club (ECI) is a local competitive travel youth Baseball team located in Southeast Volusia. The club would like to practice Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, so not to conflict with the SEV Family YMCA's Fall youth and adult programming such as T-Ball, Softball, kickball and other sports held on Monday, Wednesday, Friday evenings and Saturday days, nor the Men's League that plays on Saturday mornings. ECI Club has approximately 50 to 60 kids, of which, half are Edgewater residents.
As per the Fee Resolution 2024-R-12 adopted by City Council August 5, 2024, the fees are as follows:
Ballfield without lights $35.00 per hour
Ballfield with lights $65.00 per hour (note: this covers the cost of one field lit per hour)
At this rate, the cost would be: $3,280.00 for the season beginning August 21, 2024 through November 21, 2024.
The ECI Baseball Club can afford $750. The ECI Baseball Club is respectfully requesting a discount to rent the fields around the SEV Family YMCA's schedule. The ECI Baseball Club prides themselves in the fact that all of their coaches are volunteers. ECI provides free clinics for area children, coordinates local food drives for needy families and promotes healthy lifestyles for children in the community. ECI teaches teamwork, how to be a good sport, and self-respect to our youth.
ECI has provided the City with a Certificate of Insurance naming the City as additional insured as required.
