COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM
SUBJECT:
title
Resolution 2020-R-02 Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity
body
DEPARTMENT:
City Clerk
SUMMARY:
The City of Edgewater was selected to receive funds related to the Hart Avenue Drainage Improvements Project from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) grant program known as “CDBG-DR Rebuild Florida Infrastructure”. This program requires adherence to various criteria associated with the State’s funding source, which is the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. On the advice of Fred Fox Enterprises Inc., a grant-management firm who assisted the City in compiling the application for the Hart Avenue project grant, six resolutions and one ordinance are submitted for the Council’s approval in order to position the City to be eligible to receive the CDBG funds and be in compliance with the federal HUD goals and requirements.
This Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity resolution adopts a policy relating to the employment of small, women owned and minority businesses (often collectively known as MBE/WBE) for use in administering Community Development Block Grants and adopts a policy relating to the employment of minorities by the City of Edgewater.
During the April 6th Council Meeting, this Item was continued to a date and time certain of May 4th, however due to the continuing “State of Emergency” situation and since Resolutions do not need to be advertised, this has been placed on the June 1st Council Agenda.
