1859 Pine Tree Drive Foreclosure/Donation Recommendation
body
DEPARTMENT:
Administration
SUMMARY:
The City of Edgewater has foreclosed on a single-family residential home located at 1859 Pine Tree Drive. The city has expenses related to this foreclosure as follows:
• Employee/Equipment Costs for cleaning of the property $3,150
• Abatement/Property Maintenance 900
• Legal Expenses to foreclose 11,074
• Unpaid Utilities 16,500
• Outstanding Property Taxes paid by the city 6,273
Total Expensed $37,897
The city has no use for the home and by it owning the property, it is not on the tax rolls any longer. For this and other reasons, staff has approached Habitat for Humanity to gauge their interest in ownership and they are interested. Interested enough to make the city whole as to the above expenses.
Their plan is to repair the home and pass it along to a deserving family. This would then put the home back on the tax rolls and give a family a place to live.
