Purchase Generators for Lift Station #1 & Lift Station #2
body
DEPARTMENT:
Environmental Services
SUMMARY:
The City of Edgewater maintains and services fifty-nine (59) sewer lift stations throughout the City. These stations are key infrastructure assets used for the transmission of wastewater from Edgewater’s neighborhoods to the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant located at 500 W Ocean Avenue.
As a routine process of infrastructure assessment, the Environmental Services Department annually evaluates the condition of its lift stations. Through this process, lift stations 1 and 2, servicing residents from Ridgewood Avenue to Riverside Drive from Evergreen Avenue to South Riverside Drive/Harris Circle respectively; were identified as requiring rehabilitation due to the age and condition of each station's equipment. Lift Station #1 was installed in 2013 and Lift Station #2 was last rehabilitated in 2009.
The city was awarded $120,000.00 from the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program for each lift station for a total of $240,000.00. The engineering plans are complete and due to the lead time of the generators, it has been recommended by the Kimly Horn Engineering for the city to purchase the generators as soon as possible so that the project can be completed within the grant expiration date of December 31, 2025.
The generators will be purchased from Cummins Inc. Lift Station #1 45KW $29,110.00 and Lift Station #2 70KW $34,205.00
The purchase of these generators would allow for the rehabilitation of these two lift stations, allowing the upgrade to current standards while updating the station’s equipment to sustain its reliability for the city.
