SUMMARY:

 

Pursuant to Resolution No. 2025-R-36 Council adopted in September 2025 City Council appointed members to the Charter Review Committee for review and possible revisions to the current City Charter.

 

Since December 2025, the Charter Review Committee has been working diligently to review and provide various (7) proposed charter revisions for consideration by the City Council for possible placement on the upcoming general election ballot.

 

A summary of the proposed Charter revisions are summarized below:

 

1.                     Charter Preamble

2.                     Section 3.01 - Composition - Expanding Council to 6 members at 37,000

3.                     Section 1.01(f)(1) - Native and Florida-Friendly Landscaping Requirement

4.                     Section 1.01(i)(1) - Annexed Property; limitation on increase in density.

5.                     Section 1.01 (j)(1) - Sale of City Park Property - Voter Approval Required

6.                     Section 1.01(k)(1) - Sale of City Hall - Voter Approval Required

7.                     Section 1.01(l) - Prohibition of Data Centers.

 

City Council needs to review and approval any or all of the proposed revisions.
