Second Reading - Ordinance 2020-O-28 Amending and Restating Chapter 19, Article V, Divisions 1 and 2 of the Code of Ordinances

SUMMARY: City Council approved the modifications in the operations of the Solid Waste Division to incorporate larger collection trucks and supply carts to all customers. With these changes, it is necessary to update the Code of Ordinances to reflect these conversions. The following items are the highlight of the revisions.
• Update of all definitions
• Carts are provided by the City and are the property of the City
• New customers will be required to pay a deposit and given their choice of the size of cart
• How cart exchanges are handled and moving in and out of Edgewater
• How stolen carts are to be treated by the Customer and the City
• Placement of carts at the curb
• Condemnation and/or damage to cans and carts
• Biohazardous or hazardous waste not to be placed in any container serviced by the City
• Placement of recycling containers-similar language as carts.
City Council approved Ordinance No. 2020-O-28 on first reading during the Council Meeting on September 14, 2020.
