SUMMARY:
This ordinance will eliminate the requirement to register alarm systems and modify the enforcement process from the City Clerk’s Office to the Code Enforcement Division. By prohibiting and regulating certain alarms, it safeguards emergency services from misuse. Reducing the number of false alarms allows emergency units to be more effectively allocated to real incidents, thereby enhancing public safety and response efficiency.
Amending Chapter 12 (Alarm Systems) of the Code of Ordinances by modifying the following Sections:
Section 12-61 - Modifying the definition of Alarm, Alarm User, and Person
Removed Sections 12-62, 12-63, 12-64, 12-65, 12-67, 12-68, 12-69, 12-71, and 12-72-12-74
Modifying Section 12-66 to 12-62: Modifying the Language in Subsection (a) and Removed Subsection (b).
Modifying Section 12-70 to 12-63: Modifying the new Section number.
