SUMMARY:
The City and Volusia County entered into a Joint Project Agreement for Edgewater Floodproofing and Hardening Wastewater Treatment Plant/Operations Building on June 26, 2025. The County was awarded $328.9 million in Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds provided by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Grant B-23-UN-12-005 to aid the citizens of Volusia County in their recovery from Hurricane Ian.
The City project, Floodproofing & Hardening of the Wastewater Treatment Plant/Operations Building was determined to be eligible and met all the requirements of the HUD Grant B-23-UN-12-005. The County will manage the design and construction of the project.
The County is amending the Joint Project Agreement to add Section “J. PROJECT COST”. This will include the estimated total cost of the project, to include design services and construction, is $2,100,000.00. The County agrees to participate in the project cost up to a maximum amount of $1,575,000.00 using CDBG-DR funds provided by HUD Grant B-23-UN-12-005. The City’s committed local match amount is $525,000.00. This equates to the pro-rata share of 25%.
