SUMMARY:

This enhancement would significantly improve the currently proposed limited service. The additional personnel would provide 24-hour coverage with staffing levels that will enhancing the department’s ability to respond effectively to fires and other emergencies, particularly for residents in the western area of the city.
The overall awarded amount for this project amounts to $1,315,757.16. This will be paid out between the timeline of September 2025 through September 2028. The SAFER grant covers salary and benefits for all six positions for three years, with the City contributing a 25% City match in years one and two (estimated $109,646.44 annually), and a 65% City match in year three (estimated $285,080.72). This does not include uniforms/PPE/Bunker Gear estimated at $6,500 for each firefighter. Total estimated City Match for the three-year period of $543,373.60.
