Planning and Zoning Board - Councilman Powers appointment due to the expired term and subsequent resignation of Paul Wright.

BACKGROUND:
The Planning and Zoning Board is an advisory body to City Council. The Board provides recommendations to City Council on rezoning’s, comprehensive plan amendments, text amendment changes, major site plans, preliminary plats, and final plats. The Planning and Zoning Board is made up of voluntary members of the City of Edgewater. The Planning Zoning Board members serve three year terms and must be reappointed every three years.
Mr. Paul Wright has served faithfully the Planning and Zoning Board, but at this time, he is requesting to step off the Board. The Planning and Zoning Board is composed of seven voting members. Quorum for the Planning and Zoning Board is five members. With Mr. Wright resigning from the Board, staff requests that the Planning and Zoning Board choose the one applicant, Teresa Heavener and send a recommendation to City Council.
The Planning and Zoning Board on My 8th, 2024 sent a favorable recommendation to City Council with six members in support, zero in opposition, and one absent.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Staff recommends City Council appoint Teresa Heavener to serve on the Planning and Zoning Board for a three year term.
