SUMMARY:
The Public Works Department is requesting City Council approval for the emergency purchase of a replacement gear box for the Wastewater Treatment Plant’s ALDEC G2-45 centrifuge used in the dewatering of biosolids. Dewatering is a critical step in the wastewater treatment process and ensures proper and compliant disposal of biosolids.
Due to the necessity of this gear box to maintain uninterrupted operations and prevent extended downtime, staff proceeded with the emergency procurement process. Alfa Laval Inc. is the sole source manufacturer for the equipment, and the total cost of the purchase was $55,553.17.
