SUMMARY:
$40,000 was allocated during a City Council approved budget amendment to purchase and equip a pre-owned Ford Interceptor during the December 8, 2020 City Council meeting. Staff reviewed the option to purchase a new 2021 Ford Interceptor rather than the pre-owned 2019 Ford Interceptor. An inventory of police equipment was conducted and the new vehicle could be equipped utilizing some already owned existing equipment. The total cost to purchase a new 2021 Ford Interceptor fully-equipped would be $45,392.10. During the budget amendment presented to council at the December 8th council meeting there was $33,570 in funds that were earmarked as contingency funding until the final estimates for all of the budget amendment items were confirmed. It is staff’s recommendation to use $5,392 of this identified funding to move forward with purchase of the new patrol vehicle.
