K9 Nixon began his service with EPD in 2017 with his partner Officer Sammy Epitropoulos. K9 Nixon suffered a dental injury in 2023 and was recommended for medical retirement by the veterinarian. K9 Nixon has lived with Officer Epitropoulos since 2017 and is a member of his family. Officer Epitropoulos has requested the ownership of K9 Nixon be transferred from the city to himself.
