COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM
SUBJECT:
title
Resolution 2020-R-05 CDBG Citizen Participation Plan
body
DEPARTMENT:
City Clerk
SUMMARY:
The City of Edgewater was selected to receive funds related to the Hart Avenue Drainage Improvements Project from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) grant program known as “CDBG-DR Rebuild Florida Infrastructure”. This program requires adherence to various criteria associated with the State’s funding source, which is the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. On the advice of Fred Fox Enterprises Inc., a grant-management firm who assisted the City in compiling the application for the Hart Avenue project grant, six resolutions and one ordinance are submitted for the Council’s approval in order to position the City to be eligible to receive the CDBG funds and be in compliance with the federal HUD goals and requirements.
This resolution adopts a policy relating to citizen participation in the City’s Community Development Block Grant program. It describes, among other things, the appointment of a Citizens Advisory Task Force committee as a board to collect, consider, and respond to public input regarding the City’s actions and decisions within the context of the CDBG program.
During the April 6th Council Meeting, this Item was continued to a date and time certain of May 4th, however due to the continuing “State of Emergency” situation and since Resolutions do not have to be advertised, this has been placed on the June 1st Council Agenda.
