SUMMARY:
The attached Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) proposed contract is for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) 4337-78-R YMCA Wind Retrofit Project. This project was submitted to FDEM in August 2018. This contract was received by Environmental Services on February 10, 2020. This project is a Hazard Mitigation Grant Project in which we propose to protect the YMCA facility located at 148 W. Turgot Avenue. The mitigation measure will involve a hurricane wind retrofit that includes the removal and replacement of existing exterior windows, doors, louvers, and roof at this facility. This proposal will have wind protections at any opening such as vents, louvers and exhaust fans. All installations shall be in strict compliance with the Florida Building Code or Miami Cade Specification and all materials will be certified to meet wind and impact standards. This project shall provide protection against 150 MPH winds or the wind speed protection and impact requirements indicated by the effective Florida Building Code at the time permits are issued.
The HMGP is a match grant program, the total cost of the project is estimated to be $253,630.00 with the city’s match of twenty-five percent being $63,407.50. This grant contract is for $190,222.50.

Authorize the City Manager to approve the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) proposed contract is for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) 4337-78-R YMCA Wind Retrofit Project in the amount of $253,630.
