COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM
SUBJECT:
title
27th Street Channel to E9 Canal Preliminary Design - Professional Engineering Services
body
DEPARTMENT:
Public Works & Utilities
SUMMARY:
The City of Edgewater Stormwater Master Plan identifies the need to improve drainage capacity by connecting the 27th Street Channel to the E9 Canal and ultimately to the Silver Palm Canal west of Florida Shores. This proposed connection will provide additional drainage conveyance for the E9 Canal toward Turnbull Hammock while maintaining its existing discharge at the 18th Street Canal.
This agenda item seeks approval of a task order with Mead & Hunt, Inc. for preliminary engineering services associated with this project. The scope of work includes data collection, surveying, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, conceptual design alternatives, stakeholder coordination, and preparation of a Preliminary Design Report (PDR).
The project will evaluate up to three conceptual design alternatives, including a primary alignment along the 27th Street right-of-way and potential alternative routes to optimize cost and constructability. The design will address roadway crossings, drainage improvements, and infrastructure impacts, while incorporating stakeholder input throughout the process.
The preliminary design phase is anticipated to take approximately five (5) months to complete and will establish the foundation for future final design, permitting, and construction phases.
The total not-to-exceed cost for the preliminary design services is $135,001.
