SUMMARY:
On May 17, 2010, the Edgewater City Council approved Ordinance 2010-O-07 Designating certain properties to be included in a Brownfields Area to be known as Edgewater Redevelopment Area (ERA). Prior to this designation the City held many public education and public input meetings as the Brownfields Act and corresponding Statute 376 were adopted and funding was established for clean up, expansion and redevelopment of potentially contaminated properties. Contaminated by definition for Brownfields designation is: any physical, chemical, biological, or radiological substance present in any medium which may result in adverse effects to human health or the environment or which creates an adverse nuisance, organoleptic, or aesthetic condition in groundwater.

Since this time, the Cities in Southeast Volusia formed the Southeast Volusia Corridor Improvement Coalition and has received two EPA Brownfields grants; one in 2013 for $600,000 and one in 2021 for $600,000. These grants help to fund Phase 1 and Phase 2 environmental studies on properties whereby there may have been a possibility for contamination. These grant funds could also be used for clean-up, if needed. These grant programs have been very successful in the redevelopment of properties located in the Brownfields areas throughout Southeast Volusia.

A potential buyer of the subject property located on Mango Tree Drive as designated in the light green color on map "Exhibit A" is requesting to add this property into the Edgewater Redevelopment Area (ERA) for potential Brownfields grant and mitigation purposes.
