SUMMARY:

In 2020, the City of Edgewater applied and was awarded funding for the Air Park Road Sidewalk Feasibility Study from the River to Sea Transportation Planning Organization. The final report was submitted to the TPO and FDOT for grant funding in February of 2021. In 2025, the State of Florida alerted staff that the Air Park Road Sidewalk project had been awarded state funds for the design and engineering. City staff have spent the last year navigating the LAP program with FDOT. The culmination of this work is before the Board today to consider funding the design of the Airpark Road sidewalk. The original cost of the project back in 2020 was estimated to cost a total of 1.8 million, with design and engineering estimated to cost $300,000. FDOT and the City negotiated with the consultant, VHB, and negotiated the design and engineering cost to $705,284. The City’s local match required as a part of the original grant is $70,529. The City is responsible to pick up the difference in funding between the estimated cost, and the total negotiated design cost. As such, City Staff are seeking Council approval to authorize funding in the amount of $394,543 for design and engineering for the Air Park Road sidewalk.
