The City of Edgewater owns and operates a water treatment facility, the Alan R. Thomas Water Treatment Plant, which has a 5.0-MGD treatment capacity and currently serves a total of 12,230 connections.
As a critically essential facility, the treatment plant is equipped with a standby generator to continue full operations during power outages. The current generator was installed in 1992 and has exceeded its useful life, requiring replacement.
The Environmental Services Department has obtained a quote for the fabrication and installation of a Tradewinds Power Corp 500-kW generator with a 600-Amp Automatic Transfer Switch through the competitively priced purchasing cooperative Florida Sheriffs Association Contract (Bid No. FSA23-EQU21.0 Specification No. #176).
