SUMMARY:
The changes in this agreement are presented in the unlined and strikethrough format. The changes are as follows:
> Complete Agreement - Members are now represented by the Laborers International Union of North America, Local 630 (LiUNA). Update from International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) to Laborers International Union of North America, Local 630 (LiUNA).
> Preamble - Add: The Business Manager or his designee will be the chief spokesperson for the union.
> Article 5 - Grievance and Arbitration Procedure -
* Eliminate existing Step 1 process
* Update language to new Step 1 process: The Employee shall present grievance in writing within ten (10) working days of the occurrence of the event(s), which gave rise to the grievance or from the date on which the employee becomes knowledgeable of the cause of action. The employee shall submit the grievance to the Department Head. The Department Head shall, within ten (10) working days after presentation of the grievance, render his decision in writing. Any time period may be extended with the consent of the City and Local 630.
* Change Step 3 to Step 2
* Change Step 4 to Step 3
* In Step 3 Remove: With respect to bargaining unit members, the arbitration procedure shall be exclusively reserved to Local 630. The arbitrator may be any impartial person mutually agreed upon by the City and Local 630. If an impartial arbitrator cannot be agreed upon within ten (10) working days after the grievance is submitted to arbitration.
> Article 8 - Union Representatives -
Add E.: The member of the bargaining unit shall have the right to contribute up to 16 hours of vacation, sick, floating holiday, PTO or compensatory time to the Local 630 Union Time Pool by the beginning of each fiscal year. The Department Director or his desi...
