title
George R. Kennedy Park - Change Order to Replace Permeable Paver System
body
DEPARTMENT:
Parks & Recreation
SUMMARY:
In January 2020, the contractor, Construct Co. began work on George R. Kennedy Park to remove and replace the boat ramp and fishing pier / pavilion and repair the sea wall. The project is partially funded by Florida Inland Navigation District (F.I.N.D) grants for the sea wall repairs and boat ramp. The project is almost complete, on time and under budget. Before the City opens this important focal point and park, staff had planned that the Environmental Services and Parks & Recreation Departments would partner together to perform the work in-house to replace the permeable pavers and clean up the parking lot. However after figuring the cost and lack of available labor due to COVID, determined that the contractor, Construct Co, can perform the work faster and less expensively, especially since the contractor is still on site and has not demobilized, thus saving the City time and thousands of dollars by adding this work and materials to the scope of the current project.
