Updates to Standard Construction Details

SUMMARY:
The City’s Comprehensive Plan defines the types of development which can occur and establishes certain thresholds and limitations. Chapter 21 of the City Code of Ordinances contains the Land Development Code which implements the Comprehensive Plan by providing more specific instructions and rules regulating development. The City publishes Standard Construction Details for the engineering design and construction contractor communities to further clarify elements of the Land Development Code in order to establish consistent standards of quality, materials type, and dimensions of items external to any structure. Of significant importance to the Environmental Services Department, the Standard Construction Details provide for standardization and implementation of Best Management Practices for items built by developers and subsequently dedicated to City ownership for perpetual maintenance.
The Standard Construction Details consists of sections regulating the following:
• water, sewer, and reclaimed utility systems;
• roads, curbs, sidewalks, driveways, and streetlights in the right-of-way;
• stormwater collection and treatment systems;
• publicly accessed features on private property such as parking lots, sidewalks, dumpster enclosures and other miscellaneous features of a site.
The City Standard Construction Details are periodically updated by City staff to stay current. The Standard Details are made available on the City’s website in both PDF and AutoCAD format at the following link:

The current changes include updates to several pages within the Sanitary Sewer and Stormwater sections which reflect current practices and improved BMP’s.
