SUMMARY:
On May 17, 2021, and February 24, 2022, the SEV Chamber and East Central Florida Regional Planning Council (ECFRPC) worked with each city's economic development practitioners to facilitate a joint meeting between the three SEV cities and the aforementioned partners. Subsequently, the (ECFRPC) compiled the feedback from those joint meetings and worked with stakeholders to develop an initial SEV Regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategic (CEDS) Plan. Subsequent Summits have been held June 14, 2023 and Jun 19, 2024. In order to conduct another Joint Meeting with the cities of Edgewater, New Smyrna Beach, and Oak Hill, the city must comply with Section 166.0213, Florida Statute. The statute titled Governing Body meetings states " The governing body of a municipality may hold joint meetings to receive, discuss, and act upon matters of mutual interest with the governing body of the county within which the municipality is located or the governing body of another municipality at such time and place as shall be prescribed by ordinance or resolution.”
The statute further requires the time and place of a joint meeting with another municipality shall be prescribed by ordinance or resolution.
