SUMMARY:
The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting authorization to purchase a 2016 MowerMax 15′ FlexWing mower with 480 hours of use for a total of $51,000. This mower is in excellent working condition and has been thoroughly inspected and approved by the Parks and Recreation Director. It was previously owned by the City of Kissimmee, Florida, who confirmed that the mower was functioning properly and had just been serviced prior to its sale.
While a mower was originally requested in next year’s budget, a unique opportunity has arisen to acquire this unit now at a significantly reduced cost. The original asking price was $56,000, but staff successfully negotiated it down to $51,000. New units of this type typically cost significantly more, making this purchase a fraction of the cost of a new mower.
Funds for the purchase are currently available within the existing Parks and Recreation budget due to substantial savings identified in the Soccer Field Lighting Project. This acquisition would not affect any other planned expenditures and allows the City to maximize current-year savings while meeting a critical equipment need.
