Need for a Chief Building Official

SUMMARY:
The current Edgewater Chief Building Official’s last day of work is scheduled for March 1, 2024. The City of New Smyrna Beach (NSB) has agreed to allow the use of theirs until Edgewater can find a replacement. Between the two City Managers, the following interlocal agreement was forged and has been accepted/adopted by NSB. It now needs the consideration of the Edgewater City Council.
Within the agreement is a stipulation that Edgewater will reimburse NSB for all costs incurred for use of their CBO. His current hourly rate it $79.22, including benefits. NSB has asked that Edgewater also pay the standard IRS mileage rates while using their employee and vehicle, which is $.67/mile. At this time, it is unknown how much he will be needed, but the budget should not be negatively impacted as the current CBO’s hourly rate is $80 per hour. He will also be covered by Edgewater’s liability insurance.
