SUMMARY:

 

Volusia County has authorized $2.7 million to be awarded to Edgewater / New Smyrna Beach to extend the Regional Rail Trail that ends at Dale St through Edgewater into New Smyrna Beach.  Utilizing the same design the City will be extending the current trail through City owned property into Daytona State College property to 10th Street.  Staff recommends utilizing a design build RFP using the existing County Design to expedite the build cycle.  Once funding is secured staff will begin the process of seeking environmental and site surveys.  Once the path has been determined, staff will bring all necessary easements to the Council for approval prior to construction.
