body

DEPARTMENT:

City Manager

SUMMARY:

The attached Interlocal Agreement is regarding the Halifax Hospital Medical Center establishing a Free Standing Emergency Department at 311 S. Ridgewood Ave. The building is located within the recently created Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) district. They initially will not own the property rather leasing it which means the property will not be eligible for hospital tax district exemptions.

Halifax Hospital has pledged to work with the City to address health care needs of mutual concerns for the residents and visitors of the City of Edgewater. They initially plan to open the Free Standing Emergency Department receiving emergency and non-emergency cases with future plans of specialty physician services. The establishment of such facility will not only enhance the level of medical services within the boundaries of the City but also create additional jobs in the medical field. They also have plans to contribute a significant amount of dollars towards capital improvements to the building.

The Agreement is slated for a 30 year period but would become void and terminated if Halifax does not receive required regulatory approvals and/ or has the facility operational and open to the public within 36 months of the execution of the Agreement.
